Hi All, Coach Melanie here with new blog posts, resources and other healthy tidbits you can put to immediate use. My content is always 100% human produced! Happy September! We're fast approaching my favorite season--Fall. Depending on where you live, Fall's not too cold and not too hot with trees that are excited to burst into vivid shades of red orange and yellow. I've lived in warmer climates where Fall doesn't really happen so I truly appreciate being back where I can enjoy it. In my opinion, it can't come fast enough after this Summer's record heat. One way I used my time during the extra sweltering days of Summer this year was to enjoy some air conditioning and finish off the continuing education I needed for renewing my various coaching and fitness certifications which all came due in a perfect storm simultaneously. One course that really hit home for me focused on what's called working with the "Boomer Market" as a health and wellness professional. Most of you reading this newsletter are likely Baby Boomers or members of Generation X--in your 40s, 50s, 60s or 70s. So am I. It's also when you start thinking not just about looking great, but feeling great and staying healthy not just today but tomorrow and beyond. You realize it's not about what age you'll ultimately live to be, but how will you be at that age? Can you do everything you love to do and want to do? A great example of what taking good care of yourself now as a present to your future self can look like, and what happens when you don't, is shared in my latest blog post: Longevity Reflections: A Tale of Two 73-Year-Old-Rockers. Please check it out! MotivationI've recently discovered this positive site that focuses on smashing stereotypes by sharing life-changing stories about living your best life at any age called Growing Bolder. Highly recommended! This quote is how I live my life and help others best live theirs as a Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach. My Favorite New Treat SnackThose of you who have followed me for awhile know that one of my fundamental philosophies is that life is too short not to have treats as long as you strive to make them over to their healthiest versions or balance them out through the rest of your nutritional intake and activity. This truly heaven-sent snack called "Heavenly Hunks" which I sampled in the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip flavor at my local Costco a couple of months ago has now become part of my regular kitchen cabinet line up. At 120 calories and 6 grams of fat for an extremely satisfying snack that is reminiscent of the Potbelly sandwich chain's Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie that's 420 calories and 17 grams of fat, it's a great example of a treat makeover. It's also gluten free and vegan if that's important to you. There's also a mini-size version and other flavors through their site.
